Anyone else have a barrage of solicitors coming to the door trying to sell you something?
This last year has been one of the worst for us. From new windows, to a new roof, to yard care, to insect repellant, to vacuums, we've had it all.
And since we live on the corner, they always want us to be their "advertising" house in exchange for an extra deal.
I've been thinking of getting or making a no soliciting sign, but would always forget until the next salesman knocked on the door.
NO SOLICITING SIGN USING XTOOL S1
Well when xTool asked me to write a post using their new AImake feature, I knew exactly what I was going to make. (This post was written in exchange for the new Safety Pro Air Purifier, all opinions are mine.)
AImake is a feature inside their DesignFind platform which you can find in xTool Creative Space. It is designed to enhance creativity by generating images in a variety of formats for use in your xTool machine.
I have not really used much AI technology before, but I thought this new feature would be helpful for someone like myself who is not savvy with digital design.

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE A NO SOLICITORS SIGN
- xTool S1
- Safety Pro AP2 Air Purifier (optional, but so helpful)
- wooden round disc (I got this from the dollar store.)
- wooden beads
USING AIMAKE TO DESIGN A NO SOLICITORS SIGN
o begin, open up xTool Creative Space and click on Design Find.Along the top click the tab AImake. You can try it out for free.
There are several quick start options. I chose the classic quote option.
I then typed in my prompt. It took a few tries to learn how to specify what I wanted.
Here's my prompt: Create a sign with the words in the text box below. Add a silhouette of a labrador dog's head. Use a variety of cursive and script that is easy to read. In small plain text include the words "If I don't know you the dog will not be restrained." The words that I included in the text box were "Absolutely NO Solicitors!"
Here are a few of my initial attempts.
I found I had to pay close attention because sometimes it would look ok, but upon closer inspection the wording (especially my small text) was out of order or spelled wrong.
Another thing I noticed is that it would add random marks or leave out words.
I ran the exact same prompt several times and got different designs each time. Every single one had something odd about it.
Once I found the generated image I wanted to use, there are two options. Either download it to your computer. Or upload it to xTool creative space.
I opted for the image below. There were only two errors.
I was able to erase the weird mark by the A. The other thing I noticed is the word 'don't' didn't have an apostrophe, even through there is space for one. I opted to ignore this error.
Then it was simply a matter of engraving the image onto the round wooden sign.
My sign came with holes and twine for hanging. I removed the twine for the engraving.
To add a little more interest to the sign, I added wooden beads to the twine before attaching it to the sign.
So my thoughts about AImake. I feel it can be a helpful starting point for projects.
However, there is a bit of a learning curve (as with all AI tools) in giving it prompts that reach the desired result.
It isn't perfect and it's important to watch for errors.
