Bring a smile to their face when they open this box of cheer!
This is great for when your loved one is having a hard time, when they are a bit homesick, or just because you want them to know you are thinking of them.
BOX OF CHEER CARE PACKAGE IDEA
As a kid, my grandma lived far away and she would send us packages. I always remember the excitement of receiving a new package. My mom would often open them before we had gotten home from school. But she would leave it all in the box so that we could "open" it and discover all the treasures she sent.
Honestly, the treasure was her thoughtfulness. The items she sent were never expensive or grandiose. She would find items at yard sales and she would always send some candy (which my mom NEVER bought).
The boxes she sent were reminders that she thought of us often and loved us.
My son is serving a mission for our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I try to send him packages fairly regularly with that same hope, to bring him a bit of cheer. That he will know that we think of him and love him even though he is far away.
Some of the other care packages I've sent him include a Thanksgiving package, a winter package, and a Valentine's day package. More ideas are listed at the bottom of the post.

WHAT TO PUT IN AN CHEERFUL CARE PACKAGE
I decided to go with a yellow theme. Yellow is bright and cheerful.I simply went to the store and wandered the aisles looking for any items that had yellow packaging.
FOOD AND SNACK IDEAS
Here's some of the yellow items I found:- wheat thins
- nilla wafers
- banana jello pudding mix
- nesquik
- dried pineapple
- Slim Jims
- granola
NON-FOOD CARE PACKAGE IDEAS
I didn't send a lot of non-food items in this package.
I sent a copy of the latest general conference Liahona issue.
And I sent this cute "Think Celestial" card to hang on his wall. It was easy to make with printable download from Happy Thoughts and Joy.
Get the Think Celestial printable here.
BOX OF CHEER PRINTABLE
I also made some fun labels for the inside of the box. It says "Sending you a Box of Cheer to Remind you that Jesus is always near"I am not a printable expert, but I did save the file as a pdf so you can print it of if you'd like.
FREE BOX OF CHEER PRINTABLE
I printed it on sticker paper. I selected the option to print two pages per sheet.
That way it printed both pages on the same sticker paper and I simply cut it in half. It fits better on the flaps of the box that way.
Need something else to add to your care package? Send them a missionary cookbook. You can print it off and send it to them. Or you can send it to them digitally. It's full of EASY things for missionaries to cook.
