Want to learn embroidery? Or learn some new embroidery stitches? I thought it would be fun to do a stitch-along.
Learn a new embroidery stitch every day while making this cute little sampler.
HEART SAMPLER EMBROIDERY STITCH ALONG
If you've always wanted to learn to embroider, now is your chance. Over the next three weeks you will learn:
- How to prepare your embroidery project
- 15 embroidery line stitches
- And a simple way to finish off your embroidery.
Here's how it will work. Today, I will share the supplies needed. Use this time to gather what you need.
We will start the stitch-along on Monday, Jan 22, 2023.
Each day (except Sundays), you will learn a new stitch. We will finish up the project just in time to display your heart sampler for Valentine's Day.

SUPPLIES NEEDED HEART SAMPLER STITCH-ALONG
- 10" wooden hoop
- embroidery thread *See my picks below*
- embroidery needle
- scissors
- printable pattern - Click here to print
- 14" X 14" fabric
- Frixion pen
- craft paint *see notes below*
Embroidery Thread
For the embroidery thread, you can use whatever colors you would like. Go through your stash and find coordinating colors. Or, you can use the colors I chose. I used DMC floss. Below are the numbers I used:- 816
- 818
- 962
- 3326
- 3731
Fabric
You can use pretty much any type of fabric. I used a scrap of white quilting fabric. It needs to be at least 14 inches by 14 inches. If you need to purchase fabric, then getting a fat quarter (a piece cut approximately 18" X 18") is an inexpensive option. Muslin works well too.
Try white, cream or even a solid color for a completely different look.
Frixion Pens
Frixion pens are an embroiderer's best friend. Use them to trace your embroidery pattern. When you are finished, carefully place a hot iron over your work and all the pen will erase. It's like magic!Craft Paint
For the paint, I used: If you have paints, feel free to find a coordinating color. There's also the option of not painting the hoop.
