As I was brainstorming hot chocolate bomb flavor ideas, I thought, why not use candy cane kisses for the chocolate. The melted chocolate turns a lovely pink color when stirred. I thought it would be perfect for Valentine's Day.
You may not be able to find candy cane kisses in the stores right now, but you can still get them online.
I used crushed candy canes as well as a candy cane hot chocolate mix to create the perfect peppermint hot cocoa bomb.

A silicone mold is a must. Use a mold that is at least 2 inches in diameter and no larger than 2 1/2 inches.HOW TO MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS WITH CANDY CANE KISSES
For tips and even more details see my original hot chocolate bombs article. I have several more flavors in the works, including salted caramel, English Toffee and S'mores. Most of my hot chocolate bombs include marshmallows. I also created a free printable gift tag !Let's get started:
Begin by melting the candy cane kisses. I found that they melted rather fast. It only took 30-45 seconds for them to melt in the microwave. Stir until smooth.
Add a generous spoonful of the chocolate into each section of the mold.
Spread the chocolate around the mold with the back of a spoon.
The melted kisses become quite liquidy and do not harden very quickly. I found that most of it would drain back to the bottom of the mold. I let it sit for 5 minutes or so and re-spread it. I had to do this several times to get the chocolate to stay on the sides of the mold.
(In the future, I will probably allow the chocolate to thicken before adding it to the molds.)
You want to make sure that the chocolate is spread evenly on all sides and the bottom of the mold.
Once it had thickened up enough to stay on the sides, I placed the molds in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to a boil and place a glass plate on top. Gather all of the filling ingredients and place them so that you can quickly assemble the hot chocolate bomb.
Working quickly, remove the chocolate from the mold. Place one shell, edge side down, on the hot plate. Twist a few times to melt the edge. Set it down and add 1 tablespoon of cocoa mix and 1 teaspoons of marshmallows and another teaspoon of crushed candy canes.
Melt the edge of another chocolate shell, place it on top of the filled shell with the melted edges together. Smooth the section where they meet with your finger.
Place them back in the freezer for another 5 to 10 minutes.
Drizzle with melted white chocolate and sprinkle with crushed candy canes if desired.
I have made several types of hot chocolate bombs. I did not record each flavor individually, because the process is the same for all of them.

Prep time: 20 MinInactive time: 10 MinTotal time: 30 Min
Make a pretty pink hot cocoa bomb by using candy cane Kisses!
Ingredients
- 10 oz. bag of Candy Cane Kisses
- 10 Tbsp. candy cane cocoa white chocolate mix
- 10 tsp. marshmallows
- 12 tsp. crushed candy canes
- 1/2 c. white candy melts
Instructions
- Begin by melting the candy cane Kisses. They melt quickly in the microwave, just 30-45 seconds. Stir.
- Add a spoonful of the chocolate to each section of the mold.
- Spread the chocolate around the mold with the back of a spoon. The melted Kisses take awhile to harden and thicken. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes until thickened re-spread so that the chocolate is evenly spread throughout the mold.
- Place in the freezer for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to a boil and place a glass plate on top. Gather all of the filling ingredients for easy assembly.
- Working quickly, remove the chocolate from the mold. Place one shell, edge side down on the hot plate. Twist it a few times to melt the edge.
- Add 1 tablespoon of cocoa mix, 1 teaspoon of crushed candy canes and 1 teaspoon of marshmallows.
- Melt the edge of another chocolate shell and place it on top of the filled shell. Smooth the section where they meat with your finger.
- Place them back in the freezer for another 5-10 minutes.
- Drizzle with melted white chocolate and sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
Notes:
The chocolate from the melted Kisses seems to be quite runny. Letting it cool for a while before trying to add it to the molds can help it to thicken and not just run down the edges of the mold to the bottom.
