That's right! Walnuts are the special ingredient that take these cookies over the top. I promise, you don't want to skip them.
After you make these, be sure to check out all my other favorite cookies.
GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
One batch of this cookie dough makes just 8 jumbo cookies. They are massive! If you really don't like walnuts, you can leave them out. The walnuts to help the cookie to keep it's shape though, so they may turn out differently.
My oldest refuses to eat them with walnuts. Next time I'll try them without and I'll update you on how they turn out.

HOW TO MAKE GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Let's get baking! I think the most important thing with cookies is to not over mix the dough. Usually I like to mix the dough with a wooden spoon like I do with my classic chocolate chip cookies. This is one of the rare cases where I use my stand mixer. I make sure to mix only until the ingredients are incorporated.
- Place butter and sugar in a bowl mix for 1 minute until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and beat just until mixed in.
- Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix on low just until mixed.
- Dump the walnuts into the batter. Mix just until incorporated
- Pour in the chocolate chips and mix once more until chocolate chips are dispersed throughout the dough. Do not over mix.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Form the dough into balls using your hands and place on a greased baking sheet, 4 to a pan.
- Bake at 400 for 10-11 minutes, or until top and bottom is just slightly golden brown. Do not over bake.
- Let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
