Golden Graham Chex Mix - A Sweet and Sticky Irresistible Treat
When I make this, the whole family will keep snitching at it all day. I mean, I couldn't even get pictures without one of the kids trying to grab some! There are not many things that my whole family can agree upon when it comes to food. I have a couple finicky eaters. But we all agree that this sweet Chex mix recipe is the best!
We've had a long standing tradition of sweet Chex mix at Holiday functions. But when our neighbors brought us over some with Golden Grahams in it, I knew it was time to change up the recipe.
The obvious difference is the Golden Grahams. There was something else too that made theirs over the top. I'm pretty sure I figured out their secret ingredient.... almond extract!
If you've never had a sweet and sticky type Chex mix, you have GOT to try this! This Golden Graham snack mix is definitely a keeper. It's the ultimate Christmas crack recipe.
TIP: I used to make this and just leave it in the bowl for snacking. While that works, it seems that the pieces on the bottom third of the bowl end up getting stuck in one large piece.
I have found that if I pour the chex mix out onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and let it sit for an hour or so then it isn't quite so ooey gooey and sticky.
And it's easier to break into snack sized pieces.
You definitely want to store it in an air tight container. I found these lids for the half sheet cookie pans that I cannot live without. They work perfectly to take treats to pot lucks. AND they work perfectly to keep the graham chex mix fresh.

I would like to introduce you to the most irresistible treat of all time. Graham Chex Mix! This mix is a combination of Chex cereals and graham cereal, covered with a sticky coating of sweet deliciousness, and topped with sliced almonds.
Ingredients
- 8 c. rice Chex
- 8 c. corn Chex
- 8 c. Golden Grahams
- 2 c. almonds, sliced or slivered
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. corn syrup
- 1 c. butter
- 1 t. vanilla extract
- 1 t. almond extract
- Optional add-ins: shredded coconut, other types of nuts, M&M's, etc.
Instructions
- Pour cereal, almonds and any additional mix-ins into two large mixing bowls, half in each bowl.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter, add sugar and corn syrup. Mix and boil for 2 minutes over medium high heat. Remove from heat and add vanilla and almond extract to syrup mixture.
- Pour half of this mixture into each bowl of cereal. Stir until all the cereal is coated.
- Pour onto parchment lined baking sheets to cool. This prevents over-stickiness and keeps it from sticking together on one large clump in the bowl.
Notes:
To reduce costs, I use the generic brand cereals.
