Chicken and Broccoli Slow Cooker Recipe - Teaching Kids to Cook
Today's chicken and broccoli recipe is a staple at our house. We have it at least monthly and it all gets gobbled up. Well, all except some of the broccoli, which my kids have not yet found a love for. In my opinion, the broccoli makes the dish. And they can keep trying it, maybe one day they'll see the light!

The chicken and sauce mixture begins in the slow cooker. I use frozen chicken tenderloins, which makes it easy, since I don't have to remember to thaw them first. Once the chicken is cooked, add in some cheese, sour cream and steamed broccoli. Serve over rice.
A tip about the broccoli:
I have tried cooking the broccoli with the chicken. It is easier to cook it all together. However, I feel that the broccoli gets overcooked. I prefer to cook it separately and add it in at the end.

Chicken and Broccoli Slow Cooker Recipe

A creamy, cheesy chicken and broccoli sauce served over rice. This is the ultimate comfort food made in the slow cooker.
Ingredients
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 can cheddar soup
- 1 can water + 1 t. chicken bouillon powder (or you can use a can of chicken broth)
- 1/2 t. cajun seasoning
- 1/4 t. garlic salt
- 7-8 chicken tenderloins (can be frozen)
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1 c. cheddar cheese, grated
- 6 c. steamed broccoli (boiled 6-7 minutes)
- cooked rice
Instructions
- Combine soups, water, bouillon and seasonings in slow cooker. Add chicken. Cook for 6 hours on low or 3 hours on high.
- Shred chicken, add cheese and sour cream. Stir together and continue on low heat until cheese has melted.
- Meanwhile, cook broccoli and rice. Stir the broccoli into the chicken mixture and serve over rice.
Notes:
I cook 2 cups of rice with 3 cups of water in the instant pot for 8 minutes on the rice setting.
The family says this is a definite keeper! I got comments of "I would be excited if you made this again" and "this is the best meal ever"!
