Did you know you can print your own temporary tattoos? And did you know that you can use those tattoos on wood? I decided to try it out and I love the end result. You can make these cute patriotic wooden tags with just a few supplies including temporary tattoo paper.
I was given tattoo paper from Silhouette America, Inc. in exchange for this post. All opinions are mine.

Creating your DIY Tattoos
Begin by printing your tattoos. I used temporary tattoo paper from Silhouette, I used the white tattoo paper.A few things to note:
1) Create a mirror image before printing. Especially if you have words or pictures (like the flag) that need to face a certain way. I mirrored the USA, but didn't think about the flag - luckily I was still able to use it vertically.
2) Carefully remove the green backing and apply the sticky tattoo to the printed image. This was tricky for me because I was doing it wrong. Check out the video from Silhouette to see how to properly apply the tattoo paper.
3) You can use your Silhouette to cut the tattoos out. I opted to just cut them out by hand, but that option is there.
My girls used a few of the tattoos, but I wanted to see how they would work on a different surface besides skin. I love the white background for these 4th of July tattoos.
How to Make Your Own Wooden Tags
I used a piece of scrap wood to see how well the tattoo would stick and it worked very well. I thought it would be fun to add them to some wooden stars, but I didn't have any and I really didn't want to go to the store. So I scavenged around and found some large paint sticks. I sanded them down, cut them into 2 1/2" lengths and drilled a hole in one end.
Next, I applied a quick coat of paint.
Once they were dry, I began applying the tattoos.
How to use temporary tattoos as a decal on a painted wood surface
Remove the plastic layer and place the tattoo face down on the wood. Tap with a wet cloth until the paper slips off the tattoo. The tattoo is now affixed to the wood.
Just think of all the possibilities of using temporary tattoos in crafts.
