This delicious caramel apple dip recipe has only three simple ingredients and comes together really quickly. My kids love it for an after school snack, or an after dinner dessert.
I have the kids eat it with apples. Me? I eat it with a spoon!
EASY CARAMEL DIP RECIPE FOR APPLES (ONLY 3 INGREDIENTS!)
This recipe originated from a friend of mine as well as from my mom. My mom uses as a dip for apples.
My friend makes fancy rice crispies with them. More details later in the post about this.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR EASY CARAMEL DIP FOR APPLES
- wrapped caramels
- sweetened condensed milk
- butter
HOW TO MAKE EASY CARAMEL APPLE DIP
This recipe is SO stinkin' easy. And no candy thermometer is needed! (Printable recipe at the end)- Simply unwrap a pound of caramels and place them in a microwave save bowl.
- Add a stick (1/2 cup) of butter and a can of sweetened condensed milk on top.
- Microwave for 2-5 minutes, stopping every minute to stir.
- Once the caramel has melted, stir until all ingredients are combined and smooth.
WAYS TO USE CARAMEL APPLE DIP
Since it's such an easy recipe, it's a great one to experiment with. Try this creamy caramel dip as a topping or filling to your favorite desserts, giving them a caramel twist.USE IT AS A DESSERT DIP
Dip sliced apples, graham crackers, animal crackers or vanilla wafers into the caramel for a delicious treat.
USE IT AS A SAUCE
This caramel dip is fairly thick. If you'd like to use it as a sauce, add a bit of heavy cream or evaporated milk to thin it slightly. Try it over a slice of apple pie, ice cream, cheesecake, or any other dessert.MAKE CARAMEL APPLE NACHOS
Arrange sliced apples on a serving platter (toss them with a little lemon juice to prevent browning).
Drizzle with this thick caramel sauce and melted chocolate. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips and heath bits on top of the caramel.
MAKE A CREAM CHEESE CARAMEL APPLE DIP
Mix together a block of softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup of sugar. Spread into a serving dish.Spread a generous layer of caramel over the cream cheese layer and top with a chopped heath bar or toffee bits.
Serve with fresh apple slices.
MAKE CARAMEL RICE KRISPIE TREATS
I got this idea from a friend. Make two batches of rice crispy treats.Once they are set, spread the caramel over the top of one pan of rice crispies, then carefully place the other batch of rice crispies on top.
The result is a rice crispy treat with a caramel layer that takes the classic kid's snack to a decadent dessert.
