Today I'm going to show you how to make a hair bow. I made a few to match the wrap-around circle skirts that I will be sharing tomorrow. I even made an extra - it's in my etsy shop if you want it.
To begin you need a piece of fabric that is 5" x 8".
Fold it in half with right sides together and stitch around the edges, leaving and opening for turning.
Clip the edges.
Turn right sides out and press flat.
Hand stitch the opening closed.
Fold it accordion style in the middle to create the bow.
{You may notice the stitching along the bottom. The picture below is one of my trial bows. I didn't hand sew the opening closed, I topstitch it closed. I didn't like how it looked that way, but it shows you how to fold the bow.}
Wrap around a piece of 1/2" ribbon and secure with hot glue. {I actually sewed a piece of fabric, but I would recommend a piece of ribbon - so much easier!}
Then just hot glue your favorite hair clip to the back and you're ready to wear.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the matching wrap-around circle skirt tutorial!
I like simple sewing projects like these.... I think I can actually handle this one!
