Back in March I featured a skirt from Ocassionally Crafty. You can find the full tutorial over at Moda Bake Shop.
I was going to make my daughter one for Easter. Well I didn't quite get to it. Spring break was the week following Easter, so I decided to let my daughter {she's 9} make it. She sewed together all the strips and I did the pleats, waistband and hem. She did a great job.
I've never used a jelly roll before. I am hooked! I love how everything just goes together so well without spending an hour at the store finding coordinating fabrics. I bought another roll and will be making my two little girls some skirts too.
The tutorial is great too! Sarah teaches you how to make this in any size. I'm kinda wanting one for myself!

I think I need one in my size too! Thanks so much for linking up to Tout It Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the contrasting prints and colors! I might need to try this sometime!
ReplyDeleteOh great idea - I love these different fabrics and have never heard of a jelly roll before. THanks for sharing at our party this week.
ReplyDeleteThat skirt looks so cute! I've seen jelly rolls online and wondered what on earth could be made with them...now I know, and am inspired! :D
ReplyDeleteI love Moda's bake shop! This turned out so cute!! I think I might make one too!

Love it! Still have a couple jelly rolls sitting around waiting for me to use them up. Must make my little girl one!
ReplyDeleteHow darling. I love the color combination, too. And that's awesome that you let your daughter help. It makes it that much more special to her. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet skirt!
ReplyDeleteThat's super cute! A great use for jelly rolls, I might have to try this one!
ReplyDeleteI've never used a jelly roll. Definitely a good idea if it gives you beautifully co-ordinated fabric like this. You are so patient to let your daughter help you. The skirt looks great!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the gray and yellow! I just linked up a dress for my little girl with very similar fabric in stripes too (on Keeping it Simple). I can't wait until she's old enough to sew with me.
ReplyDeleteYou're never to young to start crafting. Well done to her on a lovely neat job.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! You both did a great job!
